The series documents the passing landscapes seen from a moving vehicle. On a recent road trip, I began passing the time as a passenger by trying to compose photos I was seeing out the window. While I wasn’t completely serious when I took my first shot, I quickly saw the challenge of trying to get a half way decent composition in a moving car. There were dozens of photo opportunities where I would have loved to stopped, set up a tripod, and used my 4×5, or 2 1/4, or my digital camera. But that is not always possible on a road trip with someone else. These images were captured on my iPhone 4S using the Hipstamatic app. The images are part decisive moment, and part random chance, yet purely in the moment.
These images are glances of what can be seen from the road. Perhaps others see these things, too, while some may miss them completely.
